  ►    Mechanism of Drug Drug Interaction :  Deferasirox should not be given with aluminium-containing antacids since there is a possibility that it may chelate aluminium. The metabolism of deferasirox depends on uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase enzymes, and use with potent inducers of these enzymes such as carbamazepine, rifampicin, phenytoin, phenobarbital, and ritonavir may dec. exposure to deferasirox. Exposure to deferasirox was reduced when it was given with colestyramine and their use together is avoided. Deferasirox inhibits cytochrome P450 isoenzymes CYP1A2 and CYP2C8 AND MAY INDUCE CYP3A4. Cuation is advised when it s given with drugs metabolised by these isoenzymes. ,
