Fluorouracil and fluorouracil prodrugs should not be given with brivudine, sorivudine, and analogues as these are potent inhibitors of the enzyme dihydropyrimidone dehydrogenase (DPD) which degrades fluorouracil, and increased fluoropyrimidine toxicity can occur. ,
