  ►    Mechanism of Drug Drug Interaction :  Orlistat may reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Licensed product information recommends that it not be taken with acarbose. In patients taking warfarin, international normalized ratio should be monitored during treatment with orlistat. A reduction in ciclosporin concentrations to subtherapeutic levels has been reported in transplant recipients given orlistat. Hyperthyroidism has been described in a woman stabilized on levothyroxine sodium, Within 2 weeks of starting orlistat. Orlistat may decrease the absorption of antiepileptics and thereby increase the risk of seizures. Orlistat may also reduce the absorption of propafenone.
